Drug Interactions With Alprazolam XR

Drug interactions with Alprazolam XR can occur when it is combined with antipsychotic medicines, antidepressants, or sleep medications. These interactions can lead to an increased risk of side effects (including difficulty breathing, confusion, drowsiness, and memory loss).     • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
 
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Miconazole
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®)
 
 
 
  • Grapefruit juice
 
  • Narcotics or opiates, such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Other benzodiazepines, including:
 
 
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
 
 
 
  • Sleep medications.
