Clorazepate Dipotassium Information

The FDA has approved clorazepate dipotassium (Tranxene®) to treat the following conditions:
 
As a benzodiazepine, this drug works by enhancing the effects of a certain calming chemical in the brain. As a result, people taking it may experience a reduction in anxiety and fewer seizures, among other things.
 
This medicine comes in the form of tablets (both short-acting and long-acting formulations are available). Most people have no problems with clorazepate; however, this medicine is not right for everyone. Prior to beginning treatment with clorazepate, inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking and any other medical conditions you have, especially glaucoma or liver disease.
