Different Types of Phobias
Phobias are a fairly common group of disorders that share a persistent, recurring, irrational, and severe anxiety surrounding specific objects, activities, or situations. Phobias also involve specific avoidance of the particular phobic stimulus.
The most common types of phobias include:
- Social phobia, also called social anxiety disorder
- Specific phobia, an intense fear of something that causes little or no danger, such as:
- Closed-in spaces
- Agoraphobia, which is fear of being in public places.
