Ativan Risks
Although many people do not experience any problems while taking Ativan® (lorazepam), this medication is not free of risks. Some of the most common risks with Ativan include:
- Dizziness
- Weakness
- Unsteadiness.
If any problems do occur, they tend to be minor and typically require little or no treatment. However, there are some potentially serious problems that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience serious problems such as depression, suicidal thoughts, or difficulty breathing.
Other Ativan warnings and precautions apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies (including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, you may not be able to take Ativan if you have certain medical conditions, such as depression, glaucoma, or liver disease.
