Compazine Dosing in Children

Compazine should not be used in children younger than two years of age or weighing less than 20 pounds. Also, it should not be used for nausea and vomiting in pediatric surgery. At one point, Compazine suppositories in small dosages (for children) were available. However, only adult suppositories are currently available. Refer to the following table for the recommended Compazine doses (for tablets or suppositories) for severe nausea and vomiting in children:

2.5 mg two or three times daily

2.5 mg three times daily or 5 mg twice daily

15 mg per day

 
For schizophrenia treatment in children ages 2 to 12, the recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg two or three times daily.
