During clinical trials, up to 18 percent of people stopped taking Effexor XR® (venlafaxine XR) because of side effects. A few common Effexor XR side effects include sweating, constipation, body weakness, and nausea. Some rare side effects of Effexor XR include extreme confusion, sleep apnea, asthma, and cataracts. If you develop any side effects, as well as anything that "just does not seem right," during treatment with Effexor XR, let your healthcare provider know.
