Weakness, nervousness,
diarrhea, and vision changes are a few of the common side effects of Effexor XR
® (
venlafaxine XR). There are also a number of side effects that occur rarely (in less than 1 percent of people) during treatment with this medicine. Some of these side effects include anemia,
hemorrhoids, chest pain, and
high cholesterol. Among the more serious side effects with this drug that you should report to your healthcare provider are chest palpitations, hallucinations, and hostility or aggressiveness.
Because there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand whether you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never taken, you should be sure to let him or her know if you develop any side effects while on Effexor XR. You should also tell your healthcare provider about anything that "just does not seem right" during your treatment.
