Escitalopram oxalate (Lexapro®) is an antidepressant licensed to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder. By increasing serotonin levels in the brain, the medication can improve the symptoms of these conditions and help prevent depression relapses. Escitalopram comes in tablet and liquid forms, and is available in three different strengths. Potential side effects include nausea, insomnia, headache, and ejaculation problems.
