Fluvoxamine is used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults, teens, and children. By allowing a certain chemical (serotonin) to stay in the brain for a longer period of time, the drug alleviates symptoms of OCD. The medication comes in tablet form and is generally taken once or twice a day. Possible side effects of fluvoxamine include nausea, drowsiness, and headaches.
