Luvox Warnings and Precautions
There are numerous Luvox warnings and precautions to be aware of, including possible drug interactions, an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in some people who take Luvox, and the safety of taking the medication while pregnant. Prior to taking Luvox, you should tell your healthcare provider if you suffer from bipolar disorder, epilepsy, or liver disease, among other conditions. Among the people who should not take Luvox are those who have taken an MAOI within the past two weeks and those who are allergic to any of the ingredients used to make Luvox.
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Luvox® (fluvoxamine maleate) if you have:
- Bipolar disorder (manic depression) or a family history of bipolar disorder
- A history of suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts
- A recent history of a heart attack (or if you have unstable heart disease)
- Seizures or epilepsy
- Liver disease, including liver failure or cirrhosis
- Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also let your healthcare provider know if you:
- Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
- Are breastfeeding
- Smoke.
You should also be sure to tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
