Doxepin hydrochloride (HCl) is a prescription drug sold under the brand names Sinequan® and Silenor®. It is used to treat:
The medication comes in high-dose capsule and liquid forms (for anxiety or depression treatment) or low-dose tablet form (for insomnia treatment). Regardless of the form you take, it's important to take this product at the same time(s) each day to maintain an even level in your blood. In many cases, it takes several weeks to see the full effects of doxepin for depression. It may begin to work more quickly when used for anxiety.
Most people tolerate this medication well. However, side effects are possible and may include:
  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Difficulty urinating.
