Anxiety Home > Luvox for OCD

When used for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Luvox® (fluvoxamine maleate) works by interfering with the reuptake of serotonin in the brain's nerve cells. This allows more of this chemical to remain in the gaps between cells, which leads to an improvement in OCD symptoms.

This medication is approved for adults, teens, and children as young as eight years old. In addition, Luvox may be used for conditions other than OCD, such as alcoholism, eating disorders, or premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
