Anxiety Home > Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride

Though not a cure, trifluoperazine hydrochloride (Stelazine®) can be a useful treatment for the symptoms of schizophrenia and anxiety. This medicine comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only. It belongs to a class of drugs known as phenothiazines.
 
Most people tolerate this product well; however, side effects are possible. In clinical studies, some of the most commonly reported reactions include:
 
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Unusual body movements, shakiness, or twitches.
 
When prescribed to treat anxiety, this drug is only meant for short-term use.
