Because brand-name Compazine is no longer being made, the only alternative is using generic forms of Compazine. Generic Compazine tablets and suppositories are currently available on the market. The generic tablets come in two strengths, while the suppositories are available in one strength. Generic Compazine products are manufactured by a number of drug companies, including Ivax Corporation, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and Baxter Healthcare.

An Overview of Generic Compazine

Compazine® (prochlorperazine maleate) is a prescription medicine that is part of a group of drugs known as phenothiazines. It has been licensed to treat the following conditions:
 
Compazine was originally manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. However, the patents for all Compazine products have expired, and each Compazine product is available as a generic. In fact, brand-name Compazine is no longer being made.
 

Strengths of Generic Compazine

Generic Compazine tablets are available in the following strengths:
 
  • Prochlorperazine 5 mg tablets
  • Prochlorperazine 10 mg tablets.
     
At one point, Compazine syrup and extended-release Compazine capsules were available. However, these products are no longer being made.
 
Generic Compazine suppositories are available in one strength -- prochlorperazine 25 mg suppositories.
