Anxiety Home > Information on Efexor XL

Were you looking for information about Effexor XR? Information on Efexor XL is a common variation and misspelling of Effexor XR.
Effexor XR is a drug that is used to treat depression and anxiety disorders. Oftentimes, drug companies attach XL to the end of a drug name to indicate that it is an extra-long strength. However, in the case of Effexor®, Wyeth (the manufacturer) attached an XR, meaning it is an extended-release medicine. Therefore, there is no Effexor XL.
Effexor XR capsules are available in three strengths and are typically taken once a day. Common side effects include sweating, nausea, constipation, and body weakness. Before taking this product, tell your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have and any other medications you are taking.
