A number of medicines should not be taken with Limbitrol. Drug interactions may occur if Limbitrol is combined with antipsychotic medications, other benzodiazepines, cimetidine, alcohol, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors. These Limbitrol drug interactions may increase the levels of medication in your blood or lead to side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, and difficulty breathing.

Limbitrol Drug Interactions: An Overview

Limbitrol® (chlordiazepoxide and amitriptyline) can potentially interact with numerous other medications, especially those that affect the brain. Some of the medicines that may lead to Limbitrol drug interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Anticholinergic medications, such as:

 

 

 

 

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)

 

  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, such as:

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Seizure medications  
  • Sleep medications.
