What Is the Difference Between Xanax and Niravam?

If you have
 generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or panic disorder, your healthcare provider may prescribe the medicine Niravam® (orally disintegrating alprazolam). Alprazolam is the active ingredient in Niravam and also in Xanax® and Xanax XR®. But what's the difference between Xanax and Niravam?
 
Niravam comes in the form of an orally disintegrating tablet, which dissolves on the tongue. Xanax and Xanax XR come in regular tablets that are swallowed by mouth. Also, Niravam is currently only available in brand-name form, while Xanax and Xanax XR are available in both brand-name and generic versions.
