People with depression generally start with a daily dose of 25 mg. Women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) can take 12.5 mg either every day during the entire menstrual cycle or only during the last two weeks of the cycle. Your age and other drugs you may be taking are among the factors that can affect paroxetine controlled release dosing.
The dose of paroxetine controlled release (Paxil CR®) that your healthcare provider prescribes will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your age
- The medical condition you are being treated for
- Other medical conditions you may have
- Other medications you may be currently taking.
As always, do not adjust your paroxetine controlled release dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Paroxetine Controlled Release Dosing for Depression
The recommended starting paroxetine controlled release dose for depression is 25 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may choose to increase the paroxetine controlled release dosage if symptoms continue, or decrease the dose if side effects occur. The maximum recommended daily dose for depression is paroxetine controlled release 62.5 mg daily.
Paroxetine Controlled Release Dosing for Panic Disorder
For people with panic disorder, the recommended starting dose of paroxetine controlled release is 12.5 mg daily. Your healthcare provider may choose to increase the paroxetine controlled release dosage if symptoms continue, or decrease the dose if side effects occur. The maximum recommended daily dose for depression is paroxetine controlled release 75 mg.
