Best Time to Take Paxil

Many people may wonder, "When is the best time to take Paxil® (paroxetine hydrochloride)?" Paxil comes in tablet and liquid form and is typically taken once a day. Although you can take Paxil any time during the day, it is usually taken in the morning (as it may cause insomnia). However, if Paxil makes you drowsy, try taking your dosage before bedtime. It is important to take your Paxil dose at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.

You can take Paxil with or without food. If the medication bothers your stomach, try taking it with food. For Paxil to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The medication will not work if you take it in a way other than how your healthcare provider prescribes.

If you are unsure about anything related to your Paxil dosage, please talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without first discussing it with your healthcare provider. Abruptly stopping Paxil may cause withdrawal symptoms.
