A person with symptoms of phobia develops extreme anxiety when exposed to specific objects, situations, or activities. This type of anxiety often causes sweating, trembling, and racing heart. The most common types of phobia include specific phobias (such as a fear of heights or closed-in spaces), social phobia, and agoraphobia. Depending on the type of phobia, treatment may involve certain medications or cognitive behavioral therapy.
