Sarafem Drug Interactions

There are several medications that can potentially interact with Sarafem. Some of these drugs include aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), certain seizure medications, and some antidepressants. Many of these Sarafem drug interactions may alter the levels of some medicines in your blood or lead to serious side effects -- such as bleeding in the stomach or serotonin syndrome.

 

Sarafem Drug Interactions: An Introduction

 Sarafem® (fluoxetine hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of medicines. Some of the medicines that can lead to Sarafem interactions include:
 
o Pimozide (Orap®)
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
o Ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®)
o Diclofenac (Cataflam®, Voltaren®)
o Ketoprofen (Orudis®)
  • Tryptophan
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
