Sarafem® (fluoxetine hydrochloride) is a medication licensed for the treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It belongs to a class of drugs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) that work by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Sarafem comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only. Before taking it, tell your healthcare provider if you have diabetes, epilepsy, or liver disease.
