Serax® (oxazepam) is a medication that can be prescribed to help treat anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. It belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines, which work to reduce anxiety, relax muscles, and cause sleepiness. Serax capsules, which come in three different strengths, are only available in generic form. While most people have no problems with the drug, side effects can include vertigo, headaches, and drowsiness.
