Taking Other Medications With Sertraline

Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid)
Taking sertraline with lithium can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see "Linezolid"), as it can be very dangerous.
 
Miscellaneous Antidepressants
Combining sertraline with other antidepressants may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome, as it can be very dangerous.
  
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking sertraline and an MAOI together can cause life-threatening side effects. Never take an MAOI and sertraline at the same time, and do not take them within two weeks of each other.
 
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Taking sertraline and NSAIDs together can increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking NSAIDs and sertraline together.
 
Pimozide (Orap)
Do not take pimozide and sertraline together, as the combination may cause a dangerous irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia) called QT prolongation.
 
SSRI or SNRI Antidepressants
Taking sertraline with other SSRI or SNRI antidepressants can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these depression medications together. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of serotonin syndrome (see "Linezolid"), as it can be very dangerous.
 
St. John's Wort
Taking sertraline with St. John's wort can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
