A healthcare provider may prescribe
Valium to treat several conditions, such as
anxiety, muscle spasms, and
seizures. There are three strengths of Valium
® (
diazepam) tablets on the market, and Valium 10 mg tablets are the strongest strength available. Your particular dose of Valium will be affected by a number of factors, such the medical conditions you may have, other medications you are currently taking, and your age.
Anxiety
The recommended dose of
Valium for anxiety treatment is 2 mg to 10 mg, taken two to four times daily, depending on the severity of your symptoms.
Muscle Spasms
The recommended dose of Valium for treating muscle spasms is 2 mg to 10 mg, taken three or four times daily.
Seizures
The recommended dose for controlling
seizures is 2 mg to 10 mg, taken two to four times daily. Valium is intended to be used along with other seizure medications.
It usually takes several weeks before feeling the beneficial
effects of Valium. If the medication does not work right away for you, try not to be discouraged.
