Wellbutrin and Xanax Drug Interactions

Xanax® (alprazolam) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. It has the potential to interact with certain other medicines. For example, if you combine Xanax and Wellbutrin, drug interactions could occur.

Taking an antidepressant (such as Wellbutrin) in combination with Xanax can increase your risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, confusion, memory loss, or difficulty breathing. Serious side effects may also occur. Additionally, many antidepressants can raise the level of Xanax in your blood, which further increases your risk of developing side effects.

Make sure to talk with your healthcare provider before taking Xanax with an antidepressant, as you may need to be monitored more closely and may need a lower Xanax dose.
